PRIME minister Tony Blair congratulated Pendle Labour leader Azhar Ali as he picked up two prestigious Labour Party awards at the party's national local government conference in Blackpool.
The local Labour group won the award for the most campaigning group and topped that by being named the best of the best in the competition between all the section winners.
The awards were presented at the Winter Gardens conference centre by Mr Blair who said he aimed to visit Labour-controlled Pendle - and take a trip down the road to watch Burnley at Turf Moor.
