WORLD Superbike king Carl Fogarty handed £2,000 to the Princess Royal following the success of Foggy Day at the recent International Motor Cycle Show.

Carl, of Blackburn, was asked to nominate a charity of his choice by event organisers and picked Princess Anne's Riders for Health group.

The charity uses motorbikes to help distribute vital medical supplies and services to remote and isolated communities in Africa.

The donation from Motor Cycle Industry Exhibitions Ltd (MCIE) will help support a new project aimed at getting community nurses mobile in Gambia.

MCIE chief executive Mark Foster said: "More than £200,000 is raised annually for Riders for Health by the motorcycle community."

More than 9,000 fans flocked to Birmingham's NEC for Foggy Day, with each being given the opportunity to meet the champion and win a VIP trip to watch Carl race.
