PEOPLE awoke to find that the gales that buffeted East Lancashire seemed to have passed by without incident.
The emergency services had been put on red alert after weathermen warned that 70mph winds would lash Lancashire.
But firemen had a quiet night and the only incident of any note in the whole county was a tree that had blown down blocking a minor road in Lancaster.
