COUNCIL finance chiefs are being asked to give the go-ahead to a £282,000 public cash injection into the Proctor's Mill/Hammerton Street improvement project.
Proctor's, a disused foundry and major town centre eyesore, is being transformed into a hotel, nightclub and leisure centre in a multi-million pound improvement.
The schemes are drawing support from the European Regional Development Fund and English Heritage as well as the private sector.
Hammerton Street improvements include natural stone paving, kerbs and reclaimed stone setts.
Repairs will also becarried out to the riverside walling near the mill.
