POLICE are investigating an alleged assault on a 17-year-old girl in Clayton-le-Moors.
Patrols were called into the Grange Street area early yesterday after receiving a report of an attack and a small area of Mercer Park near to Grange Street was cordoned off.
The girl, who had been walking in Grange Street after 10.30pm on Sunday, was interviewed by specially trained officers yesterday.
Police are investigating whether there was a sexual motive for the incident.
Inspector Bob Ford, of Great Harwood Police, said: "During the initial stages of the investigation, a small area of Mercer Park, near to Grange Street, was cordoned off for evidential purposes. Nothing was found and the police cordon was removed early on Monday morning.
"The girl has been interviewed by specially trained officers during Monday.
"Police inquiries are continuing."
