NORTHERN Foods, parent firm of Baxenden-based Hollands pies, has bought a major stake in a sandwich firm in a £16million deal.
The group has acquired a 40 per cent shareholding in Solway Foods Holdings, together with an option to acquire the remaining 60 per cent of the company.
Solway has factories at Corby in Northamptonshire and Manton Wood in Nottinghamshire and is a major supplier to Tesco of sandwiches, sushi and salads.
