ORGANISERS of a concert by the world famous Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band are blowing their own trumpet as preparations for the musical event continued.

The championship-winning brass band will be raising the roof at Colne Municipal Hall on May 13 in aid of Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle.

The event is being organised by Nelson Arion choir as the third of four concerts in aid of the hospice. Nelson-based Marsden Building Society, a strong supporter of the hospice, is sponsoring the event.

Yesterday choir stalwart Neville Mitchell (pictured left), hospice appeals manager Mark Sandamas, and Martin Mulligan (right) operations director at the Marsden, got into the musical mood by trying their hand at playing some brass instruments.

Tickets for the performance, priced £9 and £7, are available from Mr Mitchell on 01282 867421, the hospice on 01282 440100, and the Municipal Box office on 01282 661234.
