LABOUR-controlled Lancashire County Council is once again to increase local taxation way above the rate of inflation - another kick in the teeth for residents, retailers, tradespeople and industry.
Leader County Councillor John West, has the confounded cheek to boast that a 5.5 per cent increase is the lowest in years (LET, January 28). I always thought that Dick Turpin met his end in York. I was wrong - he is still in Preston.
Since all councillors can now receive thousands of pounds a year, may I suggest that for every one per cent above the rate of inflation that they charge us they lose 25 per cent of their allowances?
That might smarten up their ideas and stop the silly spin-doctor twaddle from County Hall.
