PETER Reid's name continues to be linked with Ewood Park as a future manager of Blackburn Rovers.
And it has prompted Sunderland chairman Bob Murray to stress that talks over a new contract for their manager have nothing to do with possible interest from Ewood.
Murray insists there has not been any approach about Reid from Rovers, who have also made a similar statement, and that negotiations have not been opened because of a fear Reid might leave.
But he added: "Obviously, Blackburn will be a more wealthy club than Sunderland as long as Jack Walker owns the club. But they got relegated.
"I have never had any approach from any club about Peter. Peter is not a mercenary and he is not going to be bought off.
"Some clubs keep changing their managers.
"They have had a lot of managers recently at Blackburn but we are all very together here in what we are trying to do."
