JOHN Lewis (Letters, January 28) is proud to be Welsh. He seems, however, happy to live in England and presumably to work here.
As a teacher, during the last 40 years I could never have got a job in Wales (or Scotland). I still have to listen to a majority of radio and TV presenters speaking in Welsh, Scottish and Irish accents.
Mr Lewis feels free to insult Mr D Bullen (Letters, January 21) with the pejorative phrase 'Little Englander.' I refrain from retaliating with offensive remarks about the Welsh because (a) I would be accused of racism, although other nationalities seem to get away with it against the English and (b) we are noted for our hospitality and easy-going tolerance of those who come to live among us.
But a lot of worms are beginning to turn.
