A MAJOR Burnley employer has decided to take its employees' health to heart to mark Valentine's Day.
Staff at GUS/Home Shopping are leaving chocolates behind as they begin a healthy heart awareness month on a day normally reserved for lovers.
During the campaign, supported by the Burnley Health Care NHS Trust, staff will be encouraged to stop smoking, eat a balanced diet, incorporate exercise into their daily routine and keep alcohol levels to a safe level. Among the month's activities are a health quiz with the prize of a weekend for two in Blackpool, healthy options on the staff menu and blood pressure checks.
Heart disease is Britain's biggest killer.
