POLICE have revealed two members of staff at their headquarters have been suspended, after it was discovered a large amount of cash has gone missing.
The missing money was discovered after a routine audit was carried out in the finance department.
The cash is thought to be in the region of £100,000 and has gone missing from a travel expenses account. Both civilian members of staff are believed to work in the finance department at Hutton.
A spokesman for Lancashire police said: "There is no evidence of any criminal offence. However, two members of staff have been suspended because a disciplinary investigation is in progress.
"As this is an internal disciplinary matter, no further information will be given at this stage."
Lancashire Police Authority chairman Dr Ruth Henig, has also been informed and a disciplinary panel will discuss the situation later this month.
