YOUNG writers from across East Lancashire were presented with prizes after taking part in an annual competition.
The event was organised by the Blackburn Child Care Society and was open to youngsters in Blackburn, Darwen and parts of the Ribble Valley.
The aim was to publicise the work of the society which represents residential care workers across the borough.
Cash prizes for the competition are raised at annual Blackburn Orphanage Cup football competition.
In the 13 to 16 years category, first prize went to Rebecca Chenery, 14, from St Bede's High School, Richard Taylor, 15, from Our Lady and St John won second prize and third was Simon Davies, 14 of St Bedes.
Runners up were Jennifer Howarth, 13, from Our Lady and St John High School, Daniel Krupa, 13, from St Bede's and William Durnan, 14, from Our Lady and St John
The 10 to 13 age group winner was Salma Younus, 11, from Beardwood High School, Sam Slinger, 11, of St Bede's, came second and third prize went to Shabana Musa, 13, from Pleckgate High
Runners up were Joanne McLaren, 11, of Westholme School, Zerin Hyder, 11, also of Westholme and Craig Brandwood, 12, of Pleckgate High.
