CRIMINALS cruising Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley are targeting cars left outside country pubs and hotels - and police want motorists to ensure they do not become victims.
In recent weeks, several cars have been broken into outside the Shepherd's Rest, Wilpshire Road, Rishton; the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Blackburn Road, Clayton-le-Moors and Mitton Fold Farm Hotel, Whalley Road, Langho.
In the latest incident, on Wednesday night, a K-registered Citroen AX was stolen from the car park of the Dog and Otter, Cliffe Lane, Great Harwood. The car contained a sports bag and college work belonging to a student called Neil Wilkinson.
Inspector Bob Ford of Great Harwood Police, said: "It is clear that these thieves are driving around the area looking for cars left in quiet spots.
"Motorists should ensure that if they do have to leave their car in remote places, they take all valuables with them and, preferably, have an alarm fitted to their car. We would also like residents to report anything suspicious they see at night to help us catch these thieves."
Mr Wilkinson has appealed for the return of the documents stolen, along with his car.
Anyone with information should contact Great Harwood Police on 01254 884800.
