AS loyal Saints supporters and stand season ticket holders, my wife and I attended the friendly game against Huddersfield and I was disgusted with the team Saints turned out.
Huddersfield turned out a near full-strength first team and Saints turned out a near full-strength A team but charged near full-strength admission.
It has become the norm for Saints to turn out under-strength teams for friendlies and non-representative games. I feel this is unfair on the spectators.
There was no reference to the team selection in the press or teletext. I wonder why?
Last season, the chairman was disappointed with the amount of local support considering the "star" players we have signed. Mr Hanley's team selection for this game is no way to encourage interest or support. What Hanley has learned from this selection only he knows.
Many supporters leaving the ground were of the same opinion and I would suggest the paying public were ripped off again. The club have lost my financial support for any games in the future, other than league and cup games until they turn out their strongest team. And I suspect others are of the same frame of mind.
