IT seems to be one of the sad characteristics of our society that the people who strongly criticize things today are the ones who know least about them.
I can think of no better example of this than the recent television broadcast with the ill informed woman connected with the Which magazine.
The way which she spoke of Morecambe was disgusting, apparently she has never visited the resort for many years.
The comments she made were very unfair.
The pier is no longer there, as she seemed to think.
Surely few other British seaside resorts have pumped so much money into their town as Morecambe have.
Great improvements have been made on the promenade and the Eric Morecambe statue is a great credit to the resort and proving very popular.
Morecambe is very family orientated, gives great value for money and has the best eating places, including some outstanding cafes serving good traditional food.
But there are two things that have been highlighted, the sea air that is so uplifting (and helps the worst headaches) and last, but not least, the outstanding view of the bay.
If only the Winter Gardens could get up and running again and, with a few more shops, this would be a winner by any standards.
This woman was well out of order: Morecambe is going forward where many are going back.
Keep up the good work!
