POLICE chiefs have revealed their delight at the Home Secretary's announcement that Lancashire is to get 126 extra police officers.
The Constabulary and police authority bid for 152 officers and has been given 25 this year, 51 next year, and 50 in the the third year.
David Brindle, director of corporate services for Lancashire Constabulary said: "This is excellent news and should help us continue to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and death and injury on the roads."
Mr Brindle said that discussions on where the extra officers will be placed in the county, would be held in the near future.
Dr Ruth Henig, chair of Lancashire Police Authority, added: "We are delighted. Now we can put more officers into divisions and front-line policing to help us meet our targets and make areas safer places in which to live and work."
