PLEASE sir, can I have some more?
That's the question children at a Penwortham primary school were asking their teachers when they turned the clock back to the Victorian era for a day.
The youngsters in Year 2, aged six and seven, at Middleforth County Primary returned to the Victorian age last Friday, donning traditional garb from the era.
Their teachers did exactly the same, and gave their classroom the Victorian look, complete with chalk boards, black walls . . . and the cane!
The special day was the brainchild of student teacher Sue Driver, who has been working with the class over the past few weeks.
She said: "We visited Wigan Pier last week and saw a Victorian classroom. Each of the children asked a question and they enjoyed it.
"We decided to do something similar here, but this time the children were able to dress up and do a full day's work with a Victorian theme."
During the fun day, children wrote on chalk boards and in sand trays and posed for a traditional Victorian class photograph.
They were also taught Victorian playground games and rhymes, and were given the chance to play with some Victorian toys like the cup and ball.
Sue added: "The children really got into it and they loved it."
