AS Rovers Youth Aid chairman, I wish to put the record straight regarding the article by Steve Tinniswood in Sports Extra (LET, January 26), in which quotes were made by Ian McLean, who is not a member of the Rovers Youth Aid committee.
His hope that, in the future, the car parks at Ewood would be run by Rovers in the Community was, to say the least, purely speculative.
In my letter to Blackburn with Darwen Council informing them of Rovers Youth Aid's decision not to renew the contract for forthcoming seasons, I did point out that the committee would wholeheartedly endorse their decision, should the contract be given to an organisation whose prime aim is to support football in the community, as Rovers Youth Aid have done for the last 14 years.
I wish, however, to assure all current patrons of the Youth Aid car parking scheme that no decision has been made as to who, or even how, the car parks will operate in forthcoming seasons.
In the last 10 years, I have had a very good working relationship with Blackburn with Darwen Council's property development office, who are the owners of the land. It will be their decision and no one else's regarding the future of the car parking arrangements at Ewood.
STUART JOSEPH, Woodcrest, Wilpshire, Blackburn.
