Vulcan 2nd 20, Tyldesley 7
VULCAN finally overcame their bogey team in a hard-fought battle.
They opened the scoring when prop Hughes to crashed over. Straight from the kick-off Vulcan attacked once more, but great defence from the visitors kept them out, and when Vulcan looked certain of a try the visitors pinched the ball and went full length of the field to score. This lifted the visitors and for 10 minutes they were camped on the Vulcan line, but great defence kept them at bay.
And when Vulcan counter attacked, great handling allowed full-back P. Crinigan to score.
With Vulcan making a few changes at half time it took the home team a while to get back in their stride. But great pack work, got Vulcan up the other end of the pitch and centre P. Healey touched down. With Vulcan now showing their true running and handling skill they were back on the visitors line and after a few minutes Evans opened up a huge hole for man-of-the-match P. Crinigan to grab his second.
