COWLEY suffered defeat at the hands of a bigger Bolton School side on Saturday. But there were fine performances from Riley, Smith and Rigby.
Meanwhile, the second team were beaten in a hard game against Bolton. Errors cost them dear, but they earned some consolation with a try by debutant Ward.
Molyneux and John Moran also did well.
The Year 10 squad drew with Bolton thanks to a try by Cook. Healy also shone. At Year 9 level a lack of discipline consigned Cowley to a 19-5 defeat. Dyson scored the Cowley try, while Birke had a solid game.
The Year 8 team turned on the style to win 45-5, with Pinder and Rigby playing starring roles.
And the Year 7 team won a thrilling encounter 15-5, with Paul Hunt scoring a hat-trick of tries.
On the hockey field Cowley enjoyed a clean sweep against Ormskirk Grammar.
The first team won 3-1 with goals from Sue Winstanley and Carly Burrows.
The under 15s romped to a 6-0 success with goals from Nicola Hughes (2), Tania Jones (2), Lauren Hill and Jay Friar.
The under 14s continued the winning streak with Claire Harrison netting both goals in a 2-1 win. They under 13s won by a similar margin, with Kay Kenwright on target.
