Portico 46, West Sutton 22
AFTER disappointing the previous week Portico hit back in style.
The first try came in the first few minutes when Mark Rigby was on hand to score in the corner. A scrum against the head on West Sutton's line resulted in Neil Kearns scoring. Good forward play sent Lee Cunningham through a gap to race in under the posts. Craig Peel converted.
Mark Rigby grabbed his second try and not long after he was there to complete his hat-trick. Just before half-time Phil Greenough powered his way over in the corner.
West Sutton hit back early in the second half to score in the corner. Portico replied with Rigby going over for his fourth try. From a scrum move a strong run by Charles Ashurst to score, converted by Lee Cunningham.
Lee Cunningham scooted in at the side of the post for his second converted by himself. Lee Cunningham completed his hat-trick with great backing up play.
West Sutton went on to score some consolation tries.
Man of the match was Mark Rigby. Top tacklers were Dave Scott, Neil Kearns and Keith Tunstall. Pendle Panthers under 14s 12, Portico 4
Potico gave as good as they got against a big Pendle outfit. Their try was scored by Paul Leyland. Man of the match was Scott Thomas, top tackler was Chris Smith and the coaches award went to Mike Astbury.
Portico under nines 38, Haydock 8
Portico proved too strong for their neighbours.
Their tries came from coaches award winner Jon Meadowcroft (2), Adam Marsh (2), Adam Ashton (2), Andrew Smith (2), top tackler Nathan Ashurst and player-of-the-week Lee Sutton. John Powell was man of the match.
For Haydock tries came from man of the match Ryan Livesley and Thomas Colborn. Top tackler was skipper Joshua Jackson, most improved was Luke Riley, and unsung hero was Joshua Glover. Debutant Ryan Whitley received the coaches award.
Portico under eights 22, Halton Hornets 36
After an eight-week break, Portico came unstuck against a good Widnes side. Man of the match Stu Lloyd scored a hat-trick of tries, woith Dale Croft also touching down. Goals were added by Ryan Heyes, Josh Davies and Karl Mower. Ryan Hayes was top tackler, while Alex Mitchell and Jon Fairhurst earned coaches awards.
