A LEADING educationalist delivered a talk to staff, students and guests at Blackburn College about national developments in the University for Industry.
It was a "millennium lecture" by Professor Bob Fryer, who was recently awarded the CBE for services to community education, and is assistant vice chancellor at the University of Southampton and the University for Industry's director of distributed learning.
He is also chairman of the government's national advisory group for continuing education and lifelong learning.
Blackburn College's centre of excellence is the University for Industry's hub for East Lancashire.
The University has also designated the college's First Step Centre, in Barbara Castle Way, Blackburn, a pilot centre for East Lancashire, offering courses to encourage adults to return to learning.
