A SERIES of springtime events has been planned in East Lancashire by the county's countryside ranger service.
Events include:
An open day for teachers at Bowland Visitor Centre in Beacon Fell Country Park on Saturday, March 4 to see the education facilities available for schools. Teachers welcome any time between 11am and 4pm.
A stroll around Beacon Fell looking at the management history and ecology of the area, taking between one and a half and two hours. The walk starts from Bowland Visitor Centre at 2pm on March 11.
A wilderness walk exploring parts of the Bowland Fells not normally accessible to the public on Sunday, March 12. It will be a nine-mile scenic walk over rough moorland and is bookable through Bowland Visitor Centre on 01995 640557.
Also on Sunday, March 12 a walk using the footpaths off Beacon Fell and on to the surrounding farmland taking walkers through the Brock Valley.
An activity day at Bowland Visitor Centre on Saturday, March 25 with activities such as bird and bat box building, a scavenger hunt, pond dipping and tree identification. Visitors welcome between 10am and 4pm.
A two-mile walk on Saturday, March 25 starting at Pepper Hill Barn in Wycoller Country Park, designed to show signs of spring arriving. Bookable through Bowland Visitor Centre.
A children's activity day at Pepper Hill Barn on March 26 when youngsters can create print designs to brighten up their bedrooms. Old clothes should be worn and children must be accompanied by an adult throughout.
