A MAN was treated in hospital for a knife wound to his leg following an incident in Burnley centre.
A policeman spoke to the man early today who said he had been assaulted earlier in the night by a group of youths in Hammerton Street.
The injured man went to Burnley General Hospital but was discharged after treatment to the wound.
Police officers searched the town centre and a group of men were spotted near the bus station at 2.45am. One ran off towards Sainsbury's supermarket but was caught by the officers. No weapon was found on him. A knife was discovered nearby on a patch of grass.
A man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and was being questioned by officers at Burnley today. No formal complaint has been made to the police.
