LO-FI rockers Element have exceeded their wildest dreams - by landing a live spot on the Radio One show of their idol John Peel.

The Pendle three-piece are set to play live and talk about their record deal on Tuesday night's John Peel Show.

The band - whose brand of musical eccentricity seems to be right up Peel's street - will also be interviewed as the show highlights the fifth anniversary of their record label.

Singer and guitarist Jay Stansfield said: "We are lost for words.

"We've always been big fans of John Peel.

"He is The Man as far as we're concerned.

"He always has his finger on the pulse. We were trying to think how long it has been since a band from East Lancashire managed to get a Peel Session and we thought it was the Not Sensibles, from Burnley, which would have been about 18 years ago.

"But someone told us that the Darwen band Levellers 5 had a Peel Session in the early 1990s. It's just a dream come true for us."

Element - whose line-up is completed by guitarist Karl Eden and drummer Mark Tattersall - are set to play a Rough Trade night at the Notting Hill Arts Centre, London, on Monday.

The following evening, they will go to the BBC's famous Maida Vale recording studios where they are set to play live and be interviewed on the show. The show will look at the growth of Element's Glasgow-based record label Creeping Bent, and stablemates Speeder are also set to take part in the broadcast.

Element recently had three songs showcased on the Scottish version of cable channel BBC Choice.

The John Peel show is on Tuesday from 10pm to midnight.
