AN unusual reunion took place when Harold Pearson re-acquainted himself with one of his oldest 'workmates.'
No ordinary colleague, Harold's hard-working partner for more than 10 years at Silentnight, Barnoldswick, was better known as 'Otter' and was one of the original delivery vehicles used by the beds firm in the 1950s to deliver across the country.
A familiar sight on the streets of Barnoldswick 50 years ago, much like Silentnight's white articulated trucks are today, the Otter was a firm favourite with the company's delivery team.
The vehicle has been restored to its former glory and Harold, 70, of Queen Street, Barnoldswick, was invited back to the firm to meet up with his old workmate.
"The Otter was a real pleasure to drive and very well liked by all of the drivers," said Harold, who is retired after working for Silentnight for 23 years.
"With its big cab and comfortable driving position it was one of the most luxurious delivery vehicles on the road and together we covered thousands of miles."
The Otter was restored by Brian Carlos, another of Harold's former workmates, and it will be used to promote the history and heritage of the UK's biggest bed manufacturer.
Harold is pictured meeting up with his old pal 'Otter' and the man who restored it, Brian Carlos.
