A POLICE officer injured in a car crash as he answered a 999 call returned to duty the following day.
PC Steve Evans was one of two people injured in the accident in Palmer Road, Blackburn, at 7.50pm last Thursday.
Insp Steve Haworth, of Blackburn Police, said PC Evans was responding to an emergency call and was driving a Vauxhall Astra through traffic lights which were on red when the car collided with a Volkswagen Golf.
He went on: "PC Evans had slowed and was crawling through the lights when he collided with the Volkswagen Golf. He went to hospital for a check up but has returned to duty and a full investigation will take place."
PC Evans suffered a minor leg injury while Golf passenger Amar Hakbar, 16, of Acre Lane, Longridge, was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary with whiplash and later released.
The car was being driven by Daniel Draper, 24, of Audley Range, Blackburn, who was unhurt.
The road was closed for about 30 minutes following the crash.
