IAN Wright has had a mixed season so far, with his biggest success undoubtedly coming during a loan spell with struggling First Division side Nottingham Forest.
He started the campaign with West Ham but did not figure in any League games and his recent spell at Celtic was deemed "disappointing".
Celtic fans did not seem to see the best of the former England striker who was signed in the wake of the costly injury to Swedish international Henrik Larsson.
"It was a knee-jerk reaction to losing Henrik Larsson and it was just not working out," said Ford McLeod, deputy sports editor of the Glasgow Times.
"The punters expected more from him."
Wright scored three goals in 10 appearances for Celtic. Before that, he impressed Nottingham Forest fans.
Ian Collier, the Forest man for the Nottingham Evening Post, said: "He scored five goals and made a decent contribution. He looked quite sharp when he was here and I would imagine he would do okay in the Second Division."
On his Forest debut against QPR on August 28, Wright scored a goal and missed a penalty!
Before that, Wright, top Premiership scorer for the Hammers in 1998-99, with nine goals from 22 appearances, featured in only one more game for them - as a substitute against Jokerit in the Inter-Toto Cup last summer.
