THREE pupils from Blackburn's Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School are celebrating after winning a regional final of the National Geographical Association World Wise Quiz.
The team (pictured) consists of Lewis O'Dea, from Blackburn, Ufaq Qazi, from Burnley, and Adam Shakir, of Briercliffe, who are all 15 and in Year 11 at the West Park Road school.
They competed in a preliminary round of the competition for under 16s before facing teams from three other schools, including Accrington's Moorhead High, in the Ribblesdale heat at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston.
They now go forward to the North West of England finals at Liverpool's Hope University next month to take on schools from Cumbria, the Isle of Man, Manchester and Merseyside.
Geography teacher Simon Smith said: "They were sharp and showed a wide knowledge of the subject but are well aware they will have to be on top form to win the next round."
