NICK Holt (Letters, February 8) says pensioners should stop carping as the country does not owe them a living.
Many of the pensioners he refers to gave up six years of their lives in the Second World War.
Let us hope that if he has to do the same in his generation more kindness will be shown him than he shows to them.
It's a pity we cannot turn the clock back once in a while to give each generation a look into the past, to help them understand instead of having to learn the hard way.
