CORONATION Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh (pictured) has agreed to be president of a Lancashire charity for a second year.

Julie, who comes from Church and plays Hayley in the soap, was first elected president of the Burnley branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society last year.

Members plan to re-elect her at their annual meeting on Wednesday, February 23, which will be held at the Temple Street resource centre, Burnley.

Secretary Ray Nicholls, said: "I am sure members will be happy to re-elect her.

"Despite a busy schedule she has given us a lot of support this year."

He said Julie had been pleased to accept their invitation last year because a member of her family suffered from the illness.

The branch, which covers a large part of the East Lancashire area, is planning to bring out a newsletter soon.

It is also staging two information days, the first one on Friday, April 14, at Barnoldswick Civic Hall in the morning and at St John's Methodist Church, Colne, in the afternoon.
