A WHOLE week of language awareness for pupils in every year was the aim of an initiative in a Blackburn school.
Witton Park High School's language coordinator, Anne Kirkpatrick organised cross curricular activities boosting language skills not only in English lessons but through a wide range of subjects, plus a series of lunchtime activities including competitions and drama.
NIE coordinator Rita Shaw called in to run a 'Headline Deadline' workshop, challenging young wordsmiths to write their own news headlines, then match them to those originally published.
