AMATEUR photographers are being challenged to record interesting images of the River Darwen on film.
Darwen Civic Society has launched its 12th annual photographic competition. The aim is to encourage Darweners to look clearly at the river from its source to where it joins the River Ribble, as part of their calendar of community events.
Cash prizes will be given to winners in the senior section, which is for people aged 16 and above, and the junior sections, aged up to 11 and 11 to 16.
A special presentation evening will take place on Monday, June 5, at Darwen Library. The winning prints, and a selection of entries, will then be displayed in the exhibition room until 23.
Entry is free. Forms are available from the reception desks at Darwen Library and Darwen Town Hall.
The closing date is Tuesday, May 23.
