YOUNG dancers Mathew Clews, 12, and 11-year-old Lucy Calvert, pictured, are ready to spring into action along with 100 other youngsters in an extravaganza of dance and song for good causes.

"Rhythm 2000" will be performed by children aged three to 17 who go to the Angela Westwell School of Dance, Clitheroe. Most of the children are from Clitheroe, along with youngsters from Whalley, Sabden, Billington, Great Harwood, Clayton-le-Moors, Chatburn, Read, Barrow, Wilpshire, Balderstone and Grimsargh.

All the dances have been choreographed by the school's principal Angela Briscoe, who founded it more than 12 years ago.

They have been rehearsing at the dance studio in Moor Lane for six months, and many of the parents have also helped out by making costumes and props or donating raffle prizes.

The show features classical ballet, both groups and solos, eastern rhythms including Chinese and Turkish dancing. There will also be a modern dance section, tap dancing and songs from the musicals.

Donations will be made to the North West Haemophilia Group and Clitheroe Health Centre.

The event will be held at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School from Thursday, February 24 to Saturday, February 26. Tickets cost £4. For bookings call 01200 444211.
