A NATIONAL charity which helps out people facing poverty as a result of debt has opened a branch in Blackburn.
Christians Against Poverty's Blackburn operation has been set up by Stephen Roberts, 47, who has spent 30 years in finance, 23 of which were with the Midland Bank.
Mr Roberts, working from his home in Openshaw Drive, Blackburn, said: "Many people reach a point where they do not know which way to turn and we exist to come alongside them and, if necessary, speak on their behalf to those who they owe money.
"In its three years existence, the charity has helped more than 400 families and individuals and believes that no one's problems are so great that they cannot be helped."
