AN urgent review of bus stops has been called for in Accrington town centre to overcome congestion at the station in Peel Street.
Proposals to relocate services away from Peel Street are now set to be drawn up.
The space available at the station was described as "totally inadequate" in a report to members of the Accrington town centre regeneration board.
Director of regeneration Nigel Rix said: "There isn't enough room for a bus station but services can still flow around the town centre.
"I hope we can have a more effective bus service, stopping off at various places around the town centre."
Members were informed that Lancashire County Council and Stagecoach were investing in a quality bus initiative for the Hyndburn/Blackburn circular, in a bid to free up traffic.
