TYLDESLEY RU strolled to a 44-10 win against Ambleside.

Good early possession led to tries for Craig Broadhurst and Gary Corbett.

But the Lakeside side capitalised on a loose pass which was "headed" on for a try.

The reply was swift with the Tyldesley forwards driving the ball on for flanker Richard Callow to dart through for third try.

And Tyldesley wrapped up the first forty when Lee Cunliffe sent Howard Hughes powering over.

The second period proved equally profitable with TDs for Eddie Wallbank, Corbett, Callow and and a penalty try. Tyldesley now focus on Saturday's Sean Grainey Memorial Cup match at Leigh where they defend the Trophy won last season.

The Seconds lost 12-5 at Wigan, Andy Court's try the only reward for a lot of effort.

The Thirds team fell 21-20 to neighbours with tries from John Fetherston, Sheldon Jones and Adam Toole; Adam Fetherston kicked two goals.

LEIGH RU had an off-day at Carlisle where they crashed 18-5.

An early chance went astray before the home side built up an eight-point lead.

Quick handling led to a try for Hudspith, but Carlisle took advantage of some weak defence to grab a soft try and flattering interval lead.

They forged further ahead with a pushover, Leigh's only reply a late TD from Lester.

Good work from Whitworth at scrum-half, but one to forget.
