A DOUBLE strike by Steve Anderton saw Leigh Phoenix rise above Atherton C&N.

They scored a 5-1 win in the Leigh & District Amateur League's Davenport Cup (Round 2).

Also on target: Tony Whittacker, Simon Whittacker and Scott Mulcrow with Ryan Shaw getting one back for C&N.

In Division One Higher Fold LC beat Church Inn 5-1 with goals from Neil Clayton 2 and Steven Connor 3; Alan Hough replied.

Royal Oak won 4-2 at Leigh Three Crowns where Peter Shepherd scored the two, Dave Calland, Tony Halliwell, Johnathan Parr and Martin McHugh scored the four. AFC Limelight fell 7-2 at home to Leigh Avenue, Steve Roberts and Mathew Pollard scoring for Limelight, Stuart Moss, Mark Lomas, Steve Ackers 2, Phil Buxton 2 and Paul Banks scoring for the winners.

In Division Two Mechanics Arms (Brian Seddon, Lee Balmer) and Fir Tree Rangers (Balmer og, Dave Halliday) shared four goals.

Sir Charles Napier beat Brewery Inn 7-2 (Gary Barnes, Roy Marsh 2, Albert Griffiths, Gary Simpson, Mark Thompson; Dave Lindon, Danny Galvin).

Black Horse beat Atherton Royal 6-1 (Neil Parry, James Davies, Michael Hogan, Glynn Lewis, Stuart Derbyshire, Ben Cooper og; Paul Corbett).

Courts beat Leigh Sportsmen 2-1 (Anthony Davey, Andy Hardman; Steve Isherwood).
