STUART Barlow was without doubt the most talked about striker in Division Two in the first half of the season as his goal-glut sent Wigan roaring to the top of the table.
But Burnley have since muscled in on the act with Andy Payton shooting himself to the top of the scoring charts with nine goals in his last eight games to close the gap on the Latics to just three points.
And then came Ian Wright. The former Arsenal and England goal machine touched down at Turf Moor this week and will make his debut in front of a near full house against Wigan tomorrow.
Following Burnley's sensational coup, the football world will be listening out to hear if Wright can open his Clarets count at the first time of asking.
'Has he still got it?' will be the question on everyone's lips.
Wright insists he has and manager Stan Ternent is in no doubt.
And the statistics from Opta would appear to back up those claims.
His five goals while on loan at Nottingham Forest came at better than one every two games, while he unleashed 19 efforts on target and a further 21 that didn't hit the goal during his spell at the City Ground.
His strike-rate at Celtic was less prolific but his all-round contribution to the attack possibly went un-noticed.
His passing, crossing and dribbling rates were up there with Barlow's figures in the Second Division.
The Wigan man may in fact start from the bench tomorrow, but either striker should be written off at their peril.
