A LEADING Christian campaigner for disabled people's rights will be one of four new Honorary Canons of Blackburn Cathedral.
The Rev Frances Edwards, regional co-ordinator for North West Church Action on Disability, is only the second woman priest to become a canon of the Cathedral and now lives in Bolton-le-Sands.
The other honorary canons are the Rev Tom Barnes, vicar of St Saviour, Bamber Bridge, the Rev Martyn Griffiths, vicar of Preston Parish Church, and the Rev Arthur Ranson, vicar of St Ambrose, Leyland.
A new director of training for Lancashire will join the Cathedral staff in May. The Rev Andrew Clitherow, who lives in Lancaster, will move to the Samlesbury area to take up his new position.
He will be officially welcomed by the Bishop of Blackburn, the Rt Rev Alan Chesters, at a ceremony at the Cathedral on May 7.
