PRESTON'S housing chairman has apologised to Deepdale family who claim they were allowed to move into a firetrap.
Coun Ken Cole wrote the apology to the Bamber family, of Basil Street, Deepdale, after reading about their plight in the Citizen.
The back door of their house was still boarded up, a glass panel was broken so it acted as a guillotine, while emergency repairs carried out on the property were condemned as 'potentially dangerous.'
This week, Coun Cole said: "Following your article, I have written to the couple apologising for what has happened.
"This is the first time I have done this ever.
"The couple were unfortunate in that they moved into their home before we changed our policy on fast-track repairs and for that I apologise."
