LONG-serving headmaster Kevin Fleming has died, aged 71.
Hindsford-born Mr Fleming was head of Boothstown Holy Family School from 1957-86 and spent all his teaching career at the same school.
As a boy Kevin Fleming went to Hindsford Sacred Heart School, then De la Salle College at Salford.
Between the ages of 13-18 he trained for the priesthood but after two years national service in the Royal Navy he switched to teaching.
In 1950 he took up his first post at Holy Family after training at Hopwood Hall. He remained there until his retirement.
He leaves a wife, Margaret, two daughters and two sons.
The funeral service will be at noon on Monday at Leigh St Joseph's Church.
