WHAT an excellent letter from W T of Garswood regarding dog dirt. Our area is also badly affected, Old Whint Road, Wedge Avenue and Wagon Lane, Haydock, in particular.
The Sankey Valley cannot be enjoyed because of the problem and taking children to Legh Vale School is like walking through a minefield. People who allow their dogs to foul public places have no regard for anyone.
They have neither the common sense or decency to even pull the dog into the gutter. I do see the odd dog owner with plastic bags and poop scoops, but I can only assume they are a fashion accessory as I have never seen anyone use one.
Even our beautiful cemetery at Dentons Green is now an exercise ground for dogs (there is not even any respect for the dead).
It is about time this council took action and erected signs on all known dog runs that owners will be fined the maximum penalty if they fail to clean up after their pets. It is only when these fines are enforced that the problem will stop. The extra income generated by the fines could pay for the extra wardens needed to enforce them.
If this is already the law then I wonder how many people have actually been fined. So let's see some action.
Dog fouling is a filthy and totally unacceptable health hazard.
