INSPECTORS say a local primary school needs special help to raise its standards.
A report by Ofsted inspectors concluded that Our Lady of the Rosary RC school in Leigh hasn't made enough progress over the past four years.
They noted since their last visit there had been a significant improvement in maths and science and effective support for those with special educational needs.
The report said: "Pupils are keen to attend school and there is a sense of respect and consideration between adults and most pupils.
"Staff try hard to make classrooms interesting learning environments."
Head teacher Eric Fogg commented: "Ours has always been a warm, welcoming school which pupils are happy to attend and which enjoys the loyal support of parents.
"We are anxious to preserve all that is good about our school. We take extremely seriously the criticisms contained in the report and are determined to address the issues raised."
Borough director of education Bob Clark said: "The school will get every possible support and assistance from the Local Education Authority."
