Eagle 18, Vulcan 2nd 8

A YOUTHFUL Vulcan faced an experienced Eagle side.

And after a frantic five minutes Eagl scored through some excellent backing up. From the kick-off the Vulcan pack went to work with Slevin, Lawrenson and Duffy laying a platform for the backs. But a couple of handling errors and ill-discipline meant Vulcan were back on their line and Eagle extended their lead with a push-over try.

Vulcan earned a penalty, which Holland converted.

After the break a scrum on the Eagle line saw S. Crinigan and P. Healey combine to sendt B. Johnson in at the corner. Vulcan looked like they might come back but an interception try put the game beyond the Vulcan side.
