THE eagerly awaited Axa Women's Fifth Round FA Cup fixture between Garswood Saints and Doncaster Belles ended in deep disappointment for the home side and were defeated 4-0.
Garswood started brightly enough but Doncaster opened the scoring through England forward Karen Walker. Andrea Bell hit the Doncaster cross bar with a back header but two minutes before the break the visitors extended their lead to 2-0 with a direct free kick.
The second half started in much the same way as the first but Garswood were caught on the break and Doncaster extended their lead to 3-0. And the Belles wrapped the game up at 4-0 towards the end of the game. Not for the first time pitch problems caused the postponement of the club's Green Contract Services First Division fixture but the reserves continue to make progress in the second division. They travelled to Linotype and earned a draw thanks to a goal from McKie
Garswood United FC are to stage another Family Night on Saturday February 26, doors open at 7pm.
