RECS second string returned to winning ways to maintain their division six title challenge.

They led 16-12 at the break and consolidated their lead through a good second half performance and were well organised by the evergreen scrum-half Johnny Smith.

Tries were scored by Paul Morris, Rick Yelland, Dave Perry and Graham Saunders. Goals were added by Ste O'Neill (3) and Saunders.

The Colliers Arms, Kings Moss, man of the match was Johnny Smith.

Recs reached the next round of the cup after this mudbath victory. Try scorers were top tackler Thomas Armstrong (2), Sandy Lee (2), man-of-the-match Robert Foreman, Danny Filson, Philip Eden and Matthew Holding. The Dietiker Metal awards went to joint coaches award winners Philip Eden and Sandy Lee, most improved Stuart McDonald and unsung hero Matthew Holding.

Thatto Heath under nines 36, Pilks 40

Pilks struggled to achieve a win in this first round cup match, against an under-strength Crusaders team. Points came from coaches award Winner Matthew Twist, most improved Sean Dingsdale, Ryan Hilliard, Ben Topping, Darren Quirk, Adam Moss and Owain Griffiths. Man of the match was Shaun Pritchard, while Dean Jones and Ryan Hilliard were top tacklers.

Blackbrook under eights 48, Pilks 22

Recs' man of the match Liam Hill grabbed three tries and coaches award winner Mike Wright also touched down. Aaron Gorman was most improved and David Kanpper was top tackler. Tom Marren, Sam Smith and James Axon kicked a goal apiece.
