A WYRE pensioner stunned the music world this week when she had the bare-faced cheek to stand up to Oasis superstar Noel Gallagher.

"Some Might Say" that 86-year-old Lillie Farrell, of Thornton, likes to live dangerously after she called up the Pete and Jeff show on Virgin 1215 radio during a live interview with the songwriter and guitarist and asked him a question about the alleged limits of his musical talents.

Fiery Lillie said to the Mancunian bad-boy: "Now then Noel, you've been ribbed in the past by your peers for only utilising three chords throughout your songs. What steps have you taken to diversify your sound on the new album?"

Years ago in the pre-baby days Noel might have started a ruck along with "our kid" Liam, but he took the question in the spirit it was intended and answered: "Oh, I've learnt meself (sic) another chord!" There was an uproar of laughter in the studio as all present thought Noel had got the upper hand until Lillie continued: "I've always thought the G7 augmented fifth usually does the trick!" stunning both the star and the presenters.

It turns out that Lillie's grandson Richard works for the Ginger media group's internet department and was approached by the show's producer to ask his grandmother if she would be interested in taking part.

Lillie jumped at the chance and was one of many of the older generation to talk to Noel, as the station wanted a broad range of questions to be put forward.

When asked if she was a fan of Oasis Lillie replied: "I don't really follow the music. I've seen them in the papers a lot and read about the recent birth of his daughter.

"It was something different to do, though, and a lot of fun, even though I did get my leg pulled by the rest of my family."

And no doubt in the eyes of Lillie's family her moment of fame is one that will "Live Forever."
