A LOWTON dog lover has covered the town with posters in a bid to find her much loved golden retriever.

Mrs Susan Brierley and her husband, Peter, are offering a £200 reward for the return of four-years-old, Gus, who disappeared from fields behind his Scott Road home on February 3.

The couple, who are distraught by the loss, are appealing to anyone who may have taken him in to return him to them.

Susan, who has taken over a week off work to hunt for her pet, said: "We can't have children and he is like a baby to us.

"We've been out round all the streets, the farms, riding schools, dogs' homes, but no-one has seen him.

"He is our first dog and I don't care what it takes to get him back.

"He is not a dog that strays, but there was a bitch in season up the road, and we thought he may have gone there, but we couldn't find him. He is all we've got.

"It's not knowing what has happened to him that is tearing us apart. If anyone has picked him up, please bring him home. We are really missing him."

Gus is a big, distinctive dog, weighing around six stone. One distinguishing mark is a wart under his tongue. He may be wearing a tan collar with a disc, but could have lost it.

Anyone who can help should contact Susan on 718439 or 270975.
